Dale Earnhardt 49 died Sunday Feb. 18th 2001 in a multi-car accident on the final lap of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.
Earnhardt was Winston Cup’s most popular driver and a seven-time Winston Cup champion. He also had 34 career wins at Daytona, more than any two other drivers combined.
His death has touched many and saddened us all. We are all still in shock, because no matter what, Dale alway's had a way of bouncing back. Not this time though, which brings an end to a great era. He will alway's be missed and remembered as "The Intimidator", but to some of us he is "Mr. GoodWrench" and his legend still goes on.
Earnhardt is survived by his wife Teresa, sons Dale Jr. and Kerry, and daughters Kelly and Taylor Nicole. |
